To date, I have been in Kathmandu the entire time I have been in Nepal. With the exception of a few trips to Mount Phulchowki or various forest communes, I have stayed within the valley. Due to this, I am practically a licensed tour guide (although, I seem to have offended a few genuine tour guides on the streets of Kathmandu by insinuating that this were the case); so today I took my dad around town. I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.

Note the interesting tattoo.
Around this point, my dad and I stopped at a travel agent to get bus tickets to Pokhara. We leave the 31st and arrive back on Friday the 6th (my birthday!) We’ll take a lot of pictures in Pokhara, which is renowned for its beautiful lakes and mountains. However, the trip isn’t all about tourism: we’re also bringing one of the prototypes with us to a friend of Mr. Friedericks to see if they are interested in using the computers in schools through the Pokhara region. Despite the tourism dollars, the education is sub-par, and electricity is even more of a problem there than in Kathmandu.

This old man was singing in his courtyard.

Despite walking this road three times, I never noticed these antique fire trucks in the shadow behind the fence of an otherwise unassuming building. I stuck my camera through the gate for this photo.

The police are stepping up patrols because of the visit by the Sri Lankan president.

Always set the color balance correctly! I forgot all about light pollution...
That’s all for now.

Actually the tight security was due to Sri Lankan President’s visit to Nepal. Armed police were on every bridges en-route that day.
Thanks, Bishwa. I remember you saying that, but I thought it was the next day. I changed the post to avoid inaccuracies.
