Back To Work

Back To Work

Diwali is over, so Bishwa, Sunij and Yogesh came back to work. Today was just one of those days where things get done, which is always an excellent feeling. I really pushed to get a shipment of computers to Nepal as soon as possible; I was talking on the phone to distributors, emailing, even Skyping manufacturers (sure beats the 1-2 business day wait times). I found a manufacturer of 9″ monitors which draw only 6W maximum. With these monitors, the total power consumption of the computers would be under 20W, which is excellent.

In addition to this, I started sending out donation requests, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received from friends and family-of-friends here, it has made such a positive difference in the direction of the project. I’ll post more updates as they come in, but at the moment we can afford an additional five computers based on donations alone. Thanks a lot, everyone!

After this, Shyami and our neighbour Sudere went on the roof and I taught them a bunch of soccer skills: trapping, juggling, headers, etc. A great time! Our neighbor went on the roof to watch. It was great to see Sudere trying to explain to Shyami what I had just said, even though he also doesn’t speak much English: he just copied my gestures and expressions and spoke Nepalese to Shyami.

Watching Soccer
That’s all for now.
