Pre-Night Divali Update

Pre-Night Divali Update

The sun is just setting now but the night is ahead of us. Today Muni, Nani and I went to the office where Nani works. It is a microfinance bank, where they give loans of maybe a hundred or two hundred dollars, rather than a typical bank loan in the US which can reach into the hundreds of thousands. These kids of banks focus on close relationships with the clients, fostering a good social presence, and making sure the money goes to the right people. Plus, being banks, this day is particularly auspicious, as it is the day when Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, is worshiped. My visit at the bank made me feel right at home in Nepal, everyone was so kind! They liked that I had a camera, and openly invited me to take as many photos as I wanted, which was great. Here are some of the photos I took.
